It means they read what is commercially popular: the most popular authors write at or below that level. This is the thing about shareable content: it should give something new and/or unique; It should be something your readers can relate to, and it should be writing that your audience can quickly understand without having to think about the meanings of the words on the page. Action: All of your text should be checked for reading level. Use a tool like Read-able.com and aim for a reading level a little lower than 8th grade.
